After a little more than a month off, it was time to get together to start another year of musical journey. Our first unofficial meeting was on Friday, January 13 at 3Ten to see the Caramelo Haze and El Combo
Oscuro show. Several characters from the local scene were present, it was nice to greet them and talk about the new year, the plans and the stories.
Personally, I think that that day El Combo Oscuro played their best set I've seen so far and Caramelo Haze lived up to expectations.
The following Monday, we got together to listen to the first mix of the album and everyone had a chance to comment on the direction of the sound. Notes were taken and based on that, Josh and I met with the audio engineer (Alan Garcia) the following week to give him directions.
In rehearsals, we are focusing on experimenting with new sounds and playing with some ideas to create new material. It's always a fun time making new music. I have a feeling that this year is going to be especially productive in that sense. We are already confirming several shows around Austin, soon we will be announcing them. If things go well, we could start heading out of town for the fall. At least that's what I would like.
From the world upside down,
Guillermo
